The 2002 R1 brought fuel injection and a Deltabox III frame to Yamaha’s litre superbike, sharpening throttle response and rigidity while keeping the compact, stacked-gearbox engine that made the original so light. Each R1 silencer is made to order in Staffordshire, TIG welded and finished by hand.
