Kawasaki’s middleweight supersport ran a 599cc inline-four from 2009 to 2012 before the larger 636cc unit returned for 2013, both sharing the same chassis layout and underbody exhaust section. That mid-section carries the catalytic converter, a heavy and restrictive component sitting low in the bike. Replacing it frees gas flow into the silencer and takes useful weight out of the centre of the machine. Blueflame makes the ZX-6R de-cat pipe in Staffordshire to pair with its own silencer range.
